How to Celebrate October in the Birmingham Area

It’s finally October! The season of fall that brings pumpkin spice, hayrides, and spooky things to our lives. The Birmingham area does not lack in Fall events. Whether you’re a fan of haunted houses, pumpkin patches, or fall festivals, there’s something for everyone this month!

In this blog we’ll cover all of the Fall Festivities in Birmingham so you don’t miss out! We’re starting with Haunted Houses, then Haunted Walks, then pumpkin patches, and ending this article with a list of Fall Festivals. So feel free to skip ahead to the section you’re most interested in.

Haunted Houses in the Greater Birmingham Area

There are so many haunted houses to choose from in the Birmingham area! Here is a list of the most popular haunted houses in the Birmingham area and within an hour of downtown.

Sloss Fright Furnaces

Sloss Furnaces has an event for just about everything, and they aren’t skipping out on Halloween! There are 5 different tours you can choose from.

Location: Sloss Furnaces National Historic Landmark in Birmingham

Date: Thursday through Sunday and open the entire week of Halloween. The last night is on Saturday, November 2nd

Time: Tickets start selling at sundown and close at 10:30 pm on weeknights (Sunday through Thursday) and midnight on Friday and Saturday.

Warehouse 31

Warehouse 31 has a traditional haunted house attraction as well as a 3D attraction for you to enjoy!

Location: 3150 Lee St, Pelham, AL 35124

Date: Open on select nights, check the website for more information: Open the entire week of Halloween, last night is on November 2nd.

Time: Tickets begin selling at 6:30 pm; the attraction opens at 7:00 pm

Atrox Factory

Atroxy Factory is another place you can visit for a scream! Visit their website for more information on the attractions they provide and please note this haunted house is cash only!

Location: 8404 Parkway Dr, Leeds, AL 35094

Date: Open Wednesday – Sunday through November 2nd. 

Time: Opens at 6:30, on weeknights it closes at 10:00 pm and on weekends it closes at midnight.

Nightmare 3008

This haunted house is located in Fultondale and is sure to make you jump!

Location: 1731 Decatur Hwy, Fultondale, AL 35068

Date: Open Friday through Sunday, the last day is on Halloween Night, Thursday, October 31st.

Time: 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm.

Insanitarium Haunted Attraction

If you’re looking for something outside of the Birmingham area, then this haunted house is for you!

Location: 5320 Miles Springs Rd, Pinson, AL 35126

Date: Open Friday through Sunday. On Halloween it’s open Wednesday through Friday, ending on November 1st. 

Time: Friday and Saturday: 7:00 pm – Midnight, and Sundays from 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm

Hellbilly Hollow

This is another attraction that’s about an hour outside of the Greater Birmingham area. 

Location: 425 Co Rd 467, Vincent, AL 35178

Date: Open Fridays and Saturdays. Open on Sunday ONLY on October 20th and the end date of November 3rd.

This haunted house is in Columbiana and will expose all of your phobias!

Spook Trail Maze

The Spook Trail Maze of Monsters and Mahyem is located in Quinton, AL, about an hour from the downtown Birmingham area. This outdoor maze is sure to spook you at every turn!

Ghost Tours in the Birmingham Area:

If you’re not quite a fan of the full on experience of a haunted house, then a ghost tour might be the right experience for you! Learn about the spooky history of some haunted places in the Birmingham area. 

The Birmingham Historic Touring Company

Located in the heart of Birmingham, learn about our city’s spooky past! There are different tours you can go on, they are all about a mile long.

Pumpkin Patches in the Greater Birmingham and Surrounding Areas

Pumpkin patches are a great way to get in the October spirit! There are plenty of pumpkin patches in the Greater Birmingham area, and we’ve included a few that are a bit farther out as well. 

Helena Hollow

Visit this local pumpkin patch in Helena! There is also a kid friendly hayride. It’s a great place to celebrate the October season with your family and friends.

Pumpkin Patch Express at The Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum

Another local place to get in the Fall season spirit is at The Heart of Dixie Railroad. There will be a hayride, inflatables, and a corn maze in addition to the pumpkin patch!

Teshua Farms

This farm isn’t too far away! Located in Westover, Teshua Farms is offering a hayride, petting zoo, inflatables, and more in addition to their pumpkin patch! Bring the entire family out for a day of fun. There will also be a few Harvest Festivals where live music will be played on October 5th, 12th, and 26th.

This farm and pumpkin patch is located in West Blocton, AL. It features a hayride and corn maze that you and your family can enjoy!

This pumpkin patch is out in Verbena, Alabama, that offers a lot from wagon rides to corn mazes, a cow train, a large corn pit, animal barn, pumpkin bowling, and so much more!
